Anurag Thakur, Union Minister of State for Finance and Lok Sabha MP from Hamirpur, said neither the HPCA had recommended his name for the post of its president, nor the BCCI had turned down this recommendation.

Addressing mediapersons at Kandwal near here on Sunday evening, he said it was just a rumour spread by a section of the media.

Thakur was on his way to Hamirpur after presiding over celebrations of the 125 birth anniversary of Maharaja Hari Singh in Jammu on Sunday.

On any move to field his father and former CM Prem Kumar Dhumal from Dharamsala Assembly byelection on the party ticket, Thakur said he had no such information.

He said the candidates for the two bypoll seats would benefit from the performance of the Narendra Modi government at the Centre and the Jai Ram Thakur government. On abrogation of Article 370 in J and K, he said it had a positive impact on the state and people were upbeat.

On the rising financial burden, Thakur said it was the responsibility of the state government to enhance income sources and curtail expenditures for streamlining the financial health of the state.
